++Nana's Visit++

We had a busy week with a visit from Nana. We spent a lot of our time shopping for furniture for Wyatt's new room. It's not easy to find boy stuff (his favorite was the Cinderella carriage bed with four big wheels). I think we have settled on something, now Mark is excited to come in and negotiate. It's the time when Wyatt will have to "run off" so I don't have to sit there for the madness. I've already played along with round one of his strategy which is playing it cool and not acting overly interested in anything. I refused to say "money is tight these days" like he wanted me to though.
We had a good time shopping for baby girl as well. Those of you who know me well know how much I love a bargain (it's genetic). We cleaned up at this children's boutique that had all their summer stuff for 80% off.
Wyatt took no time at all to warm up to Nana. He's obviously at the age where he remembers people from one visit to the next which is nice. He insisted she play train table and read stories and do puzzles. He's really into this puzzle we have with the alphabet letters. He knows about half of his letters and I think it's mainly from the puzzle. I'm realizing what a sponge he is...I told him "Q" was like "O" with a tail and now he doesn't say Q but "O tail". Here's some photos from the week:
First we started by cleaning the place up before she came. Wyatt has taken a liking to the vacuum cleaner after 2 years of severely detesting it. He insisted on helping
"puuuusssshhhh" and "puuuulllll".

Here he is with Nana after the eagerly anticipated arrival of his Halloween costume (via the "big brown truck" previously of shoe delivery fame---he is starting to think that thing is great).
Having a snack at the park.
Helping Nana "make" cookies. He was fascinated that the pumpkins were on both sides. Oh--and eating the results wasn't so bad either.
Dad trying on the train engineer costume (he's going to kill me for this). Low enthusiasm from the intended wearer has caused us to take drastic measures. Three more days until the first Halloween party. We've been working on it nightly. Ugh.

Last, but not least, we don't want to leave the little girl out of things. Here I am, 21 weeks.

One more note: I wish I could post a few photos here but I'm not able to capture the photos from her site (smart on her part). We had Wyatt's two year photos taken. He didn't really want to cooperate but the results were pretty good. They seem to capture the personality of the little guy. He refused to have any taken in her studio so we went outside...which isn't really meant for pictures. Most of his laughing was at their little dog... Take a look and let me know what you like. I'm having a tough time deciding.

++Pumpkin Patch++

No self-respecting blogger could let the fall pass without posting photos of a trip to the pumpkin patch which, in general, is just one giant photo opportunity since pumpkins are generally cheaper and easier to come by in about 100 other places between our house and the pumpkin patch. But, we are parents now so we do stuff like this. As I feared, it was about 90 degrees on Saturday. I was hoping for sweaters and apple cider...but instead we just got sweaty.

We went to Priddy Farms. Which is basically in the owners' backyard. Suburbs have been built up all around them. It was interesting to see that their four children were all hard at work at the farm...quite different from Wyatt's life (or Mark or mine for that matter).
They had lots of things to play on...this was Wyatt's favorite.
He hopped down into the patch and made a beeline for the lone green pumpkin...that was his choice. I kind of think it's cool that he picked the one that was unique!
Telling mom about his pumpkin.
Showing dad the hay (which he knew was called hay based on a farm book we have).
The family. Notice that Wyatt is wearing that green shirt AGAIN. He has a dresser full of clothes but on the weekends he insists on wearing something that matches Daddy. I should check out Mark's closet before I shop in the future.
Nana is arriving for a quick little visit on Wednesday. She found a ticket for $135!! We realized after the fact that Wyatt and I should have gone to Florida instead. Oh well. Maybe next time we find a ticket for that cheap (ha ha).

++Life in our house++

Just a few photos that capture our life these days...

Filling up his trailer with as many goodies as will fit.
Showing George how to play with the trains (when did my baby start looking like such a big boy?)
His new hiding space for hide and seek this morning. No idea how he thought of this one. Maybe he doesn't need a big bed after all...he can just sleep in dad's closet!
And finally...wasting no time...we (ok, so it was all me) brought some pink into the house. In my defense this store here was having a big sale plus I had a coupon. I plan to send some stuff to Seattle to "pay it forward." I must say it was pretty fun to go to the previously forbidden "other side" of the store.

++For those of you who are wondering...++

The newest little Pacyna will be wearing PINK! Crazy. Seriously crazy. I don't know how to braid hair. I guess there will be ballet and tutus in this house after all. Most importantly, she has all her parts and pieces (minus one...that Wyatt has).

Here are a couple of shots. We aren't going to win any prizes for great ultrasound photos...she was all curled up in a ball for most of the time. The first one is her profile, the second is some feet...Trust me, in February you will see all the photos you want (and more).

One last thing...here's a shot of her in the belly. I feel bad. Wyatt got weekly shots, this is her first, and only. We'll try to be better.

++A year of blogging++

82 posts. 5,493 visitors (since January). Two houses. Two cities. A new job. A new baby on the way. Lots of trips. Lots of milestones. Lots of work. Lots of fun.

Now for the payoff. I'm going to use this great site and publish my blog into a book. I don't do journals. I don't do scrapbooks. I've been horrible at even printing my photos (but we all know I take enough of them). So this will be it. Our little keepsake for a year in our life. I'll let you know how it goes. It's supposed to "slurp" it all off the site (their word not mine). But from a trial run a little while ago, I learned that I may need to do a little formatting. You can also buy a copy for yourself. Ha ha ha. I'm just glad some of you take the time to check up on us every once in a while. It can be pretty lonely in our new city and sometimes it's nice to know the people that we care about the most can still share in our life. But not comment...that's another story... I can tell most of my readers are from Minnesota due to the lack of comments left :)

The next year is sure to be eventful as well. Hope you enjoy it!

++Cappin' off the second year++

Wyatt had quite the celebration to induct him into the terrible twos. Maybe we're secretly hoping if we start out well...it will make what's supposed to be a tough year, not so bad. So far, so good!

Checking out the loot. These were just the family presents. Mom and Dad gave him the train table. Finally! Something to fill our empty dining room (and keep us questioning how we turned into people who are excited about this).

Peeking in to see what's from Nana and Bompa (it was all the tracks and stuff for the table).

I didn't want to wear my hat, but it was sure funny to see it on Grandma's head! Check out my new dump truck from Grandma and Grandpa. I like to use it to transport as many things as I can fit in it, around the house.

Testing out the new train table. Verdict: very fun! We opted to go with the Plan City. It's tracks fit Thomas trains but they also have roadways and all sorts of fun buildings (like this FIRE STATION!!!)

Our gourmet birthday dinner. Wyatt chose the location :"Donalds". I'm not sure who was more excited though, Grandpa or Wyatt. (We're still working on training Gma and Gpa to look at the camera for photos, not Wyatt...)

More presents after dinner (we needed a break). Fun stuff included puzzles from the Rominskis and Matt and Taylor and a cool ferry boat and books from Larson and family.
Saturday was party day. Wyatt was thrilled to see the big bunch of balloons enter his house. He was equally traumatized the following day to find them all on the ground.
The kids in the sand box.
Olly took it upon himself to make sure everyone was equipped with a hat.
Waiting for lunch with Sydney. We moved things inside because it was too hot outside. Why wouldn't it be hot---it's only almost October!!!
Working on the pinata.
The boys enjoying the fruits of their labor (Olly, Wyatt and Will).
The cake was from Baskin Robbins. Strawberry ice cream and white cake.
Blowing the candle out...a great finish to a fun two-day celebration. Then we all took a nap.
